Former vice-president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has today signed the 2019 General Elections Peace Accord.

What is the Peace Accord?

The Peace Accord is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancor free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

The candidates are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.

Where did Atiku sign the pact?

Atiku signed the document in the full glare of members of the Peace Committee headed by a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), at Bishop Kukah Centre in Abuja.

He was accompanied to the ceremony by National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and other party stalwarts.

The presidential candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili also signed hers earlier today after missing out on Tuesday’s process.

Recall the duo of Atiku and Ezekwesili was among presidential candidates absent at the signing of the Peace Accord yesterday in Abuja; an exercise that saw President Muhammadu Buhari sign his own pact too.
