Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau has defected to the APC from the PDP citing the “injustices” meted out on him as reasons for his cross carpeting.
The former Minister of Education’s media aide, Sule Ya’asule confirmed the defection to Daily Trust as he revealed that his boss is ready to chart a new course for the party he left to join the PDP.
Few weeks ago, a former Governor of the state and Presidential aspirant, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso announced his defection to the PDP and has since gone on to announce his Presidential ambition. One of Shekarau’s misgivings about the PDP is their acceptance of Kwankwaso to the fold of the party.
Shekarau is expected to work in close proximity with Abdullahi Ganduje ahead of the 2019 elections as the power tussle in Kano is set to have a huge reflection on what happens at the centre and in the state.
Shekarau was Kwankwaso’s predecessor as Kano State Governor after ruling for eight years. He was also a Presidential aspirant of the PDP in the 2011 elections.
