Secretary of Kebbi State’s PDP, Muhammadu Sakaba has switched allegiance to the APC, as political transfers continue ahead of the 2019 elections.
Sakaba’s move is yet another move by a PDP member to the APC.
APC Welcomes Sakaba
Sakaba was welcomed by the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu in an event that came up in Birnin-Kebbi, the capital of the state.
Bagudu hailed Sakaba for his show of desire for unity in the state, and urged others in opposition parties to cross-carpet to the APC.
“I know you as a good, honest and straight forward person, who cherishes the unity of our state above personnel interest,” he said.
What Did Sakaba Say?
Sakaba promised to work for the reelection of President Buhari and Governor Bagudu in 2019. He also vowed to ensure his supporters follow him to the APC.
“I have now defected from PDP to APC due to my belief on the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Atiku Bagudu.
“They have demonstrated commitments to the progress of the nation and our state respectively within the four years of their leadership.
“My hope now is to rally round them and offer my utmost support and contribution to ensure the sustainability of their progressive agenda,” he said.
Political Transfers Continue
Sakaba’s move is yet another defection from the PDP to the APC in Northern Nigeria. As the 2019 elections approach, politicians are making frantic moves within parties as they vie to better their expectations and pitch tents with where their interests are best served. Most defections have been between the APC and the PDP.
