Fateemat Mohammed, an aspirant under the platform of People’s Democratic party(PDP) has expressed confidence in winning the elective position in Ifako-Ijaye federal constituency, Lagos state.
She disclosed this during an interview session on Political stew stating that her past achievements in the constituency is her ticket to victory.
Who is Fateemat Mohammed?
Fateemat is a member of the PDP vying for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives to represent Ifako Ijaye Federal constituency.
The politician started her political sojourn with Alliance for Democracy(AD) and was a former member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) now known as APC.
She was also a member of the Planning and Re-strategic arm of the Bola Ahmed Tinunbu Campaign Organisation which assisted the APC chieftain to emerge Governor of Lagos state.
After her stint with the ACN, Mohammed joined PDP and in present times works as the Director General of the Atikulation Imdependent Campaign Group which is charged with the duty of ensuring the PDP’s presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar takes on the mandate as president of Nigeria in 2019.
What did she say?
According to Mohammed, her past work as a philantrophist, grassroots politician and well known indigene of Ifako Ijaiye qualifies her for the position of House of representatives.
She maintained that prior to the campaign period, she had already been recognised as the probable winner of the House of Reps as her political precedence and what she can offer the electorate speaks volumes for her ambition.
” I am one of those politicians who believes in identifying and giving back to the people as my precedents have shown.
“Ifako-Ijaye recognises this fact and that is why as of today, indigenes do not believe in any other candidate or political party except Fateemat and PDP.
“My popularity is not far fetched as I have direct access to my people and in turn run friendly projects. To this end, everywhere in Ifako-Ijaye has a touch of my work as I have constructed bridges, sunk boreholes, empowered women and through micro finance grants and provided school children with basic necessities,” she said.
Condemning the high rate of underdevelopment in the constituency, Mohammed said Ifako-Ijaye in the last 18 years has not had evidence of representation despite the huge allowance accrued to the constituency. She also chided politicians who engage in the act of pleasing godfathers with allowance accrued to the constituency for the hope of being returned to power.
She therefore put forward that the 2019 election would be based on burning issues and individuals that accords paramount importance to issues facing Ifako-ijaiye would be elected.
Meanwhile, Mohammed referred to grassroots politics as the true definition of politics saying, ‘ Elitist politicians do not make good politicians. To impact in the society as a politician, you must reach out to the people and feel the pores of the grassroots”
On PDP chances winning the general elections in 2019
According to Mohammed, PDP has what it takes to get Nigeria working again. She also stressed further that PDP’s presidential candidate would emerge winner of the presidential election in 2019.
While citing Atiku’s precedents, she said the former vice president was able to turn Nigeria in a positive direction with impacts in different sectors while he was in office and would do more once elected as president.
In the same vein, Mohammed noted that the idea that Lagos belongs to the APC would not apply in the forthcoming election as the PDP’s governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje would be declared winner and other elective positions would be won by the party.
