Ahead of the 2019 elections, insinuations are rife about the candidacy of Peter Obi as the running mate of Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
While many of these suggestions are basically emanating from the social media and are still yet to be confirmed, Political Stew can authoritatively report that Peter Obi is being highly considered.
According to inside sources in the Atiku camp, the former Anambra State government has been ever-present for Atiku and has wholly and fully supported his presidential ambition all along.
The consideration of Obi’s backing of Atiku, in addition with the fact that the former Vice President is casting his searchlight to the South-East for his running mate, has made Obi a likely choice as Atiku’s number 2.
Obi is popular for his performance as Anambra State Governor and also his many speeches on the socioeconomic position of the nation.
Atiku emerged Presidential candidate of the PDP on Sunday after defeating other aspirants by a landslide victory.
Meanwhile, there are reports currently ongoing about Atiku and Obi being in a closed-door meeting. This is believed to be linked with Obi’s candidacy as Atiku’s running mate.
