Supporters of Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s re-election bid has on Sunday staged a peaceful rally to harp on the leadership of the APC to ensure that a level playing ground is provided for all aspirants in the forthcoming governorship primary.
The rally which was organized by the Ambode Mandate Support Group AMSG witnessed supporters trooping out in large numbers to converge at the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB in Maryland to march from Ikorodu Road to Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota.

Their major submission was that Governor Ambode deserved to be allowed to in office beyond 2019 to continue his good works in all sections and sectors of the State.
While addressing the supporters, the Director General of AMSG Hakeem Sulaimon condemned the bias attitude of the State Executive of APC led by Tunde Balogun towards the ambition of Governor Ambode.
He further alerted the party’s national executive about plans ochestrated of some members to deny Ambode the ticket through fraudulent means.
He said that this is coming even after president Muhammad Buhari had intervened for peaceful resolution of the issue.
“By this gathering, we are sending a petition to the National Executive of our party even though we are still going to make it formal with video evidence that ordinarily the Governor ought to have run a second term without any hindrance but the party leaders are serving as obstacles to this”
“Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari sent in emissaries to our State including just yesterday the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to come and tell the leaders that Governor Ambode is the poster boy of APC. Still, the leaders refused and now that the Governor has said he is ready for primaries, they are saying he should step down”
He urged the National Chairman of the party,  Adams Oshiomole to take appropriate steps aimed at providing lasting solutions to the issue as done in Adamawa by taking power away from the state’s executive and setting up an independent body to oversee the primaries.
In a related development, over 3900 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in the State, have also reaffirmed support for the second term bid of Governor Ambode.
Speaking at the gathering, Chairman of the council Tajudeen Quadri, charged  members of APC and supporters of the Governor to remain undaunted in their decision to vote for Governor Ambode on Monday saying this will ensure continuation of good works.
“We all can see what the Governor has done. What CDA stands for is the development of our communities and we can all attest to the numerous developmental projects embarked upon by the Governor”
“On behalf of all CDAs and CDCs in Lagos State, we are reaffirming the fact that all of us are in support of the second term bid of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. We are urging all members of APC not be intimidated by those against the Governor”, he said.
