Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has said that his situation should not be compared to Kemi Adeosun’s because she was a ‘victim of circumstance’. Shittu said, “I was a member of the House of Assembly between 26 and 30 years. I am not Kemi Adeosun, I do not have a forged certificate of exemption. Adeosun was a victim of circumstsnce.”
In a chat with popular Ibadan-based journalist and radio broadcaster, Edmund Obilo, Shittu revealed he is ready to serve in any camp in the country, if it becomes absolutely necessary for him but gave the condition of becoming governor firstly.
Obilo further quizzed him and asked if he would serve in Daura, and he said, “yes, I will. Daura is part of Nigeria.”
Shittu said he is waiting for the court to tell him serving as member of the House of Assembly and as Minister are not superior to serving as a Corp member in the compulsory NYSC scheme.
In the lively chat, Shittu reiterated that he will become the Governor of Oyo State, come 2019. He said Ajimobi promised to field an Oke-Ogun candidate after he was voted in basically by Oke Ogun electorates in 2015.
He said during the 2015 elections, the Ibadans voted for Ladoja and 9 out of 10 local governments in Oke Ogun voted for Ajimobi. And that, he had promised to cede the candidacy of the next governor to the area.
Some of other issues discussed by Obilo and Shittu are about direct and indirect primaries. The former Oyo State Attorney General revealed that for President Muhammadu Buhari to have agreed to test his popularity in a direct primary, then every member of the party should be ready for it.
He said he will go to court if he’s denied a chance to contest in the governorship race, but will not leave the party.
