The umbrella body for civil servants in Nigeria, the Nigeria Labour Congress will commence an indefinite warning strike on Wednesday.
In a letter written by the NLC directing its members to shun their places of work beginning from Wednesday midnight, the body cited the Federal Government’s slow response to its demands as reason for the industrial action.
NLC, on behalf of Nigerian workers had demanded for a rise in the current N18,000 minimum wage which is being paid.
In several discussions held with the Nigerian government, led by Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, the federal government is yet to reach an agreement with state governments over the acceptance of NLC’s proposal.
NLC had rung out warnings last week, over holding an industrial action if nothing was done by the federal government.
