Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar is claiming that the People’s Democratic Party PDP, remains the only Political party in Nigeria with the will and determination to get the country back into a stable and working position.
Atiku who made this known today during a meeting PDP delegates in Ekiti state said Nigeria has been plunged into economic recession and political downturn ever since the All Progressives Congress took the mandate of power in May, 2015.
“The challenges we face in Nigeria is humongous due to the fact APC has made promises and have not fulfilled them ever since they got into power.”
“The party promised Nigerians peace, stability, Unity and progression but they have largely failed in these areas because of non interest in the constitution and populace”, he said.
He equally noted that the government in power has no interest in the constitution of the country and this has brought about division and inequality.
According to Atiku who is also the Waziri of Adamawa: ” the country is in shambles and is waiting for PDP to deliver them from the clutches of the party which has pulled them backward”
Following this, he appealed to the PDP delegates and Nigerians to support his ambition of becoming the president of Nigeria by voting for him massively in the forthcoming primaries scheduled to hold on Oct. 6. and doing same during the 2019 elections.
“I have come to appeal to you to support me individually and collectively during the primaries. Once Compared with other aspirants, you will be convinced that I have the experience, national reach and a yardstick for success.
“I stand devoid of any corrupt practices since my days as Vice president till this present moment and thus I am the best Presidential candidate for this party and Nigeria at large” he said.
While responding, Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, assured the Former Vice President that Ekiti’s PDP would speak with one voice during the primaries adding that “this journey has all tendencies to be fruitful and we will aim to operate a PDP that will win the general elections”
The Governor also urged that party members to remain united after the primaries while noting that their major focus is to stand victorious irregardless of the candidate fielded by the party for the elections.
