The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC has requested the Nigerian Customs to look out for outgoing Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
In a letter to the Nigerian Customs, the EFCC asked that Fayose be monitored closely on land borders, airports and seaports as he may be plotting a move out of the country.
“There is a reasonable suspicion suggesting that he may likely leave the country either through the land borders, airports or seaports in order to evade investigation. Hence, you are kindly requested to watch-list him and arrest him,” read the letter signed by Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the EFCC.
In its response, the customs instructed all zonal coordinators, area commanders and comptrollers to monitor Fayose more closely.
Fayose had last week, in a letter informed the anti-graft agency of his readiness to honour their invitation twenty four hours after the expiration of his tenure.
He however, also notified in the letter that if anything proves as a holdback to him against visiting, he has the right to reschedule.
The outgoing Governor will be replaced by Kayode Fayemi on the 15th of October, 2018.
